Space and Time (SXT Chain) is a Layer-1 blockchain and decentralized data platform designed to make SQL queries over indexed blockchain and offchain data verifiable through cryptographic proofs. Its core technology, Proof of SQL, is a zero-knowledge proof system that lets clients verify query results against cryptographic commitments to the underlying data. [1] [2] [4]
Space and Time was founded in 2022 by Nate Holiday, Scott Dykstra, Jay White and Craig Holiday. [5] [10]
In August 2024, Space and Time Labs announced a $20 million Series A led by Framework Ventures, Lightspeed Faction, Arrington Capital and Hivemind Capital. The company reported that the round brought its total funding to $50 million. [5] [10]
Space and Time launched its public, permissionless mainnet in May 2025. [7] In November 2025, the Space and Time Foundation released mainnet v2, adding support for custom offchain data tables intended for institutional and tokenized-asset applications. [8]
Space and Time uses Indexer, Validator and Prover nodes. Indexers ingest blockchain and user-supplied offchain data. Validators use Byzantine Fault Tolerant consensus to agree on cryptographic commitments representing the state of data tables. Provers execute SQL queries and generate cryptographic proofs through Proof of SQL. [2] [4] [9]
Because SXT Chain records cryptographic commitments rather than complete datasets onchain, query results can be checked against the committed table state without placing the full source tables on the blockchain. The system can index data from networks including Ethereum, Bitcoin, ZKsync, Sui, Avalanche and Base. [2]
Space and Time provides blockchain indexing, custom offchain data tables, ZK-proven SQL queries and data APIs for dashboards, backend services, AI agents and smart contracts. [1] [4]
Mainnet v2 added permissionless support for clients to insert and secure custom offchain datasets. The Space and Time Foundation identifies tokenized assets, stablecoins, decentralized finance and other onchain financial systems as intended uses for these capabilities. [1] [8]
The independent Space and Time Foundation was established in late 2024 to support the network’s development, adoption and decentralization. Space and Time Labs was renamed MakeInfinite Labs, which remains a contributor to the network under CEO Nate Holiday. The Foundation is governed by a board separate from MakeInfinite Labs. Scott Dykstra joined the Foundation as Contributor #001 with engineering leadership responsibilities. [6]
SXT is the network’s native token. It is used for validator and delegated staking and for protocol-level payments associated with querying and inserting data. The protocol also describes rewards for validators and table owners that supply datasets. [2] [9]
