Odos

Odos was a (DEX) aggregator front-end application that used a proprietary Smart Order Routing (SOR) algorithm to optimize token swaps across multiple networks. Developed by Semiotic Labs, a U.S.-based research and development company focused on artificial intelligence, cryptography, and infrastructure, Odos launched in April 2022 and was operated from the United States through Semiotic Labs’ corporate presence there.[10][1]

In July 2026, the operating company behind Odos announced it would wind down operations and permanently shut down the Odos application and related front-end services. The shutdown was completed on July 30, 2026, while the non-custodial Odos protocol, the on-chain ODOS token, and the Odos DAO continued to exist independently on-chain.[11][12]

History

Odos was developed by Semiotic Labs, an organization specializing in artificial intelligence, cryptography, and technologies. Semiotic Labs is also a core contributor to protocol, focusing on AI-driven query optimization and cryptographic security.

The platform was launched in April 2022 and introduced several updates in 2024, including limit orders, a loyalty program, and the ODOS. By the end of 2024, Odos had facilitated $53 billion in trading volume and onboarded 2.7 million wallets.[1][2][3][4][6][7][9][10]

Technology

Smart Order Routing (SOR)

Odos used a proprietary SOR algorithm that searched for trading routes across and . The algorithm considered non-linear paths to optimize swap routes.

Key features include:
  • Multi-token : Swaps involving multiple input and output tokens within a single transaction.
  • cost optimization: A balance between route complexity and transaction fees.
  • Rate execution: Some order types provided predetermined rates without hidden costs.
  • Cross-chain routing: Support for transactions across different ecosystems.

Odos is implemented as a permissionless and non-custodial protocol, ensuring that users retain control of their assets. The had undergone audits by security firms, including Zellic and Halborn, as of 2024.[15] Odos aggregate liquidity from decentralized exchanges and (AMMs). They were deployed on , , , , , Smart Chain, and additional networks, covering over 55,000 assets.[3][4][5][6][8][9]

Governance

In December 2024, Odos introduced the ODOS on the , designed for governance and incentives within the ecosystem.

Token Distribution:
  • Total Supply: 10 billion $ODOS
  • Community Allocation: 50%, including loyalty rewards and retroactive airdrops
  • Core Contributors and Investors: 50%, subject to vesting periods between 24 and 48 months ODOS holders can participate in the Odos DAO, which facilitates governance proposals and voting on protocol developments.

Loyalty Program

The Odos Loyalty Program distributed rewards based on platform activity. Rewards were issued in ODOS tokens and structured through a tiered system.

Program Highlights:
  • Epoch-based rewards: Distributed at 30-day intervals.
  • Tiered incentives: Increased trading volume corresponded to higher rebate percentages.
  • Retroactive rewards: Initial token distribution included early adopters.
  • Trading rebates: Rebates varied based on trading activity and loyalty tier.

Odos DAO

The Odos DAO is responsible for overseeing the protocol’s development and strategic direction. Governance mechanisms include:

  1. Protocol modifications and upgrades;
  2. Community-driven incentive programs;
  3. Treasury and resource management;
  4. Partnership and network expansion decisions.

Governance proposals are determined through on-chain voting, aiming to ensure decentralization and transparency.[4][7][9]

Operating Company Wind-Down

On July 23, 2026, the operating company behind Odos announced that it would wind down its operations and permanently discontinue all Odos-operated services following an internal decision. New account registrations, new wallet creation, and the placement of new limit orders were disabled on the same date, while existing users could continue swapping assets and closing positions.[13]

On July 27, 2026, the Odos application moved to read-only mode, allowing users to review transaction histories and wallet balances but preventing new trades or orders. All front-end access, APIs, customer support, and maintenance operated by the company were then permanently shut down on July 30, 2026, completing the wind-down.[11]

Throughout the shutdown, the company emphasized that Odos was a non-custodial protocol, meaning user assets remained on-chain and under users’ control. Users who had created wallets using Odos’ social or email login features were instructed to transfer their assets to another wallet or export their private keys before the July 30 deadline, with wallet access instructions remaining available through the project’s official resources after operations ended.[14]

The company further clarified that the ODOS token exists independently on-chain and is not controlled, custodied, or market-made by the operating company, so the shutdown would not affect the token’s underlying on-chain mechanics. It also noted that the Odos DAO operates independently from the company and would communicate its own plans separately, with the shutdown announcement not constituting a commitment to any future protocol development.[13][14]

In addition, the company warned users about potential scams during the shutdown process. It stated that there would be no new Odos products, token migrations, token claims, or , and cautioned users against fraudulent direct messages, fake support accounts, phishing websites, or any requests to share or sign malicious transactions, advising users to rely only on official Odos DAO communications for any future protocol-related announcements.[11][14]
