Wen is a Solana-based memecoin built on the idea of fractional NFTs. The viral poem titled 'A Love Letter to Wen Bros', written by the anon founder of Jupiter (JUP) platform, was first minted as an NFT and then split into 1 trillion fungible pieces using the Wen New Standard (WNS), a fractionalized NFT design launched via Jupiter’s LFG launchpad. Each person who holds WEN also has rights to a small portion of the poem. [11][12][1][2]

Launched in January 2024, Wen is a memecoin built on the Solana blockchain that garnered attention following a large-scale airdrop to over 1 million wallets.[11] This distribution was conducted as part of a broader testing initiative for the decentralized exchange aggregator Jupiter (JUP) ahead of its own JUP token airdrop.[12]
The creation of Wen was inspired by the poetry of Meow, the anon founder of Jupiter. Meow’s poem, “A Love Letter to Wen Bros,” has been transformed into a digital asset, an NFT, then fractionalized into fungible tokens via the Wen New Standard (WNS) on Jupiter’s LFG launchpad.[11][12]
Eligible recipients included active Jupiter users, holders of various NFT projects on the platform, and owners of the Solana Saga smartphone, with each qualifying wallet receiving an airdrop of 643,652 WEN tokens.[11][3]

The WEN token is associated with the "Wen" meme in the Web3 community and aims to introduce decentralized governance to promote innovation and raise awareness of Web3 technologies.[3]
In January 2024, the value of WEN declined due to a burn that was ultimately a "sell the news event". Two days prior, the WEN team announced that it would be burning 27% of its token supply that went unclaimed during its three-day airdrop.
However, traders had already factored in the impact of the supply dropping by over 270 billion tokens, which caused a price decline.[7]
Wen’s digital currency is based on the concept of the fractional NFT, a type of NFT that’s been broken into smaller pieces. To create Wen, the aforementioned viral poem was first turned into an NFT and then divided into 1 trillion individual pieces. All of these “fractions” were then attached to an individual WEN token.
The result is a system in which each token represents ownership of a small portion of the NFT’s digital assets.[11][12][1][6]
To create this new crypto design with fungible tokens representing NFT ownership, the Wen team invented a new token standard for NFTs. The Wen New Standard (WNS) is an open-source creation system for NFT projects that can be accessed by all community members. It was designed on the LFG Launchpad built by Jupiter.
This token launch network is backed by the popular Jupiter swap aggregator and runs on the Solana blockchain. [6][5]
Wen New Standard (WNS) is a lightweight NFT standard built on Solana’s Token-2022 “token extensions,” which add optional features to standard fungible and non-fungible tokens in an opt-in way.[14]
WNS stores NFT metadata directly in the mint account and uses Group and Member pointers to represent collections, reducing reliance on external metadata accounts and third-party infrastructure.[5]
It focuses on minimizing rent and fees while remaining composable with the broader Solana ecosystem.
Key characteristics of WNS include:[5][13]
Solana’s token extensions (Token-2022) are an expanded token program that lets creators selectively enable extra functionality, such as transfer fees, permanent delegate authorities, or transfer hooks, on a per-mint basis.[14] The Transfer Hook extension allows a token mint to run custom on-chain logic on every transfer, which can support use cases like royalties, custom protocol fees, or whitelist and blacklist checks enforced at the token-program level.[15][5]
Wen has an original total supply of 1 trillion tokens.[11][12] 70% of the total supply was allocated for Airdrop, 20% to the Liquidity Pool, and 10% to the Treasury, covering the community treasury, ecosystem growth, and contributors such as early participants and advisors.[1][13]
Following the initial three-day airdrop, approximately 27.24% of the total WEN supply—around 300 billion unclaimed tokens—was burned, reducing the remaining circulating supply relative to the original 1 trillion tokens.[7][13]
The Wen meme token operates as a memecoin with elements of decentralized governance through its association with the WEN DAO. It serves as the governance token for WEN DAO, allowing token holders to participate in decision-making processes, and is used within the Solana ecosystem for social interactions, DeFi activities, and access to certain community experiences.[3][13]
Common WEN use cases include:[10][13]
The Wen Foundation is a group dedicated to giving back to the Solana community by supporting the development of public goods and further amplifying the message of Solana's possibilities.[1]
It is positioned as a Solana public-goods organization focused on funding and maintaining WNS and related infrastructure, as well as broader ecosystem initiatives, and emerged from the Ovols NFT community as part of the WEN drop.[10][13]
The Wen Foundation’s first contribution is Wen New Standard (WNS), an open-source NFT standard meant to be expanded by members of the community. There is no team allocation or compensation for early contributors.[1][5]
The Wen ecosystem includes a Solana validator operated under the Wen brand, which advertises zero validator commission and zero MEV fees while attracting close to 100,000 SOL in delegated stake, aiming to improve network decentralization and align WEN with broader Solana security and staking incentives.[13]
In addition, Wen collaborated with liquid staking platform Sanctum to launch wenSOL, a liquid staking token that represents staked SOL and can be used in DeFi protocols so that users retain liquidity while contributing to network security.[13]
Wen also pursues intellectual property and merchandising initiatives to extend its presence beyond on-chain activity.
These efforts include physical plush toys produced with TOYMAK3RS, WEN Store NFTs that are linked to plush purchases, and .wen domain names that provide human-readable addresses for ecosystem users, all aimed at building a recognizable brand and expanding the set of applications that can integrate WEN.[13]
In June 2025, WEN partnered with Elevate Media to develop a new world of IP storytelling across animation, comics, and products, with the goal of developing a new world of Elevate Pictures, a complete Wen ecosystem, and products aimed at a global audience.[8]
We are excited to take this next step and begin our journey to introduce Wen to the world. Elevate has partnered with global giants like Disney, Google, DreamWorks, Red Bull, Warner Bros., and Walmart, and we are proud to have Wen join that list. It’s just a matter of Wen.[8]
On November 19, 2025, the Wen community participated in the "Copa De Los Memes," a football tournament held during the Ethereum Devconnect conference.
Organized by Bitso Onchain, the event was dubbed the "Battle of the Memecoins" and brought together communities in a gamified, 5v5 single-elimination tournament. Teams included WEN, MOG, Pudgy Penguins, Baby Doge, Shiba Inu, Ponke, Turbo, and WIF.
Attendees could bet points on teams to win a share of a prize pool consisting of the victorious team's token. While the source article's title mentioned Bangkok, event details pointed to La Rural, the venue for Devconnect Argentina, with the time listed in ART (Argentina Time). [9]
